Deleted an important photo? Don’t panic - Android often keeps images for days or even months after deletion. Here’s a complete recovery guide with built-in tools, cloud backups, recovery apps, and PC software.
1. Check Google Photos Trash
If Google Photos was installed before deletion, your images might be in its Trash for 30–60 days.
- Open Google Photos.
- Tap Library → Trash.
- Select the photos you want.
- Tap Restore.
2. Check Gallery / File Manager Recycle Bin
- Open your phone’s default Gallery app.
- Look for a Trash or Recently Deleted folder.
- On Samsung: Gallery → Menu → Trash.
- On Xiaomi: Gallery → Albums → Trash Bin.
- Restore from there.
3. Use a Recovery App
Use only trusted apps - many on Play Store are scams. Good options: DiskDigger, Dumpster, or Undeleter.
- Install app from Google Play.
- Grant storage permissions (root access may help recover more).
- Scan internal storage.
- Select and restore photos.
4. Restore via Cloud Backup
- Samsung Cloud: Settings → Accounts → Samsung Cloud → Restore Data.
- Xiaomi Cloud: Settings → Mi Account → Mi Cloud → Gallery Sync.
- Google Drive: Open Drive → Search photo name (if uploaded manually).
5. PC Recovery Software
Stop using the phone immediately - new data can overwrite deleted photos.
- Install EaseUS MobiSaver or Dr.Fone on PC.
- Connect phone with USB (enable File Transfer).
- Scan and recover files to PC, not back to phone.
Extra Tips
- Enable automatic cloud backup to avoid future loss.
- Check hidden folders - some apps hide media in
.nomediafolders.
